Featured Stud of the Month

At Paperbark Lodge our aim is to breed international quality warmblood sport horses from approved bloodlines, for the Olympic disciplines. Our vision is to breed world-class sport horses to suit both amateurs and professionals. And we want to ensure the process of acquiring your next horse is both seamless and enjoyable!

Our select mare group is either imported or Australian bred, from international pedigrees with generations of proven international success. Our imported mares are approved and licensed for breeding in Germany and boast progeny that are successful at the international level.

When breeding we carefully select the best mix of pedigrees to suit each individual mare with the goal to breed the best we can and to continually better our breeding stock. We use imported frozen semen (IFS) from approved stallions, or chilled semen from internationally successful approved stallions.

Our first crop in 2019 could not have been more exciting. Our filly, Saffron PL, by Secret out of our Royal Hit x Aachimedes mare is absolutely outstanding and was National Champion Halter Horse on the Australian Breeds 2020 Tour. She received a huge 88% for her overall movement, with a9.0 for trot and a 9.5 for canter and an overall 9.0 for swing and elasticity. Our colt by Quando Quando out of our Belario mare came in a very close second to our filly, with 85.5% for overall movement, including a 10.0 for his perfect trot. Amazing results that we are very proud to launch our breeding venture.

We are also importers and suppliers of IFS from Europe for those in the market that wishes to breed their own superstar and are lucky to have access to some of the world’s best stallions. We welcome all enquiries regarding stallions IFS we have currently in stock, or semen you wish us to source for you.

Our 68 acres stud is situated in Dunsborough, in the spectacular South West of Western Australia, where our mares and foals are raised in small herds, well handled, and receive the correct nutritional requirements to ensure their health and longevity.

We welcome visitors by appointment or jump onto our website and take a peek. We look forward to being a part of your equestrian dream!

For the first time this year we are standing our stunning young stallion, Bloomers Simply the Best – the last foal from the outstanding TB mare Feathers.  Looking like he will excel in dressage he is by the Oldenburger stallion Sunny Boy (Sandro Hit) and at 4yo has just been out to his first 2 dressage competitions, scoring a 70.4% and a 74.4%.  With a beautiful kind, quiet but willing and trainable temperament, he is set to be a superstar both in the competition world and as a sire.

Bloomers Simply the Best was Preliminary Licensed and awarded Elite status at this years ACE classification tour.  He was awarded 8.5 for both his trot and canter and received 81% in his ridden test, with positive comments on his uphill trot and canter and good, swinging over-tracking walk.

These marks are matched by his gentle and willing temperament which he has passed on to his first two homebred offspring from this season.  Both these foals were also awarded Elite status at the ACE classification, with Bloomers Solitary Man (Billy) being awarded NSW Champion Colt.

George’s dam, Feathers xx bred 8 amazing foals .  His half sister Bloomers Twinkletoes won the highest marks at her Holsteiner Classification and was awarded High Studbook status, and is presently eventing at 3*, going to Adelaide at 4* this year.  Half sister Celsiana by Colander (Contender) is at pre novice, hopefully finishing the year at 1*, and her full sister Champagne Moment is presently in early training.

Peta Fenton-Anderson and John Anderson operate Carrington Lodge and are enthusiastic in their commitment to producing horses suitable for the highest level of competition and are also show-stoppingly beautiful.

Established in 2002, Carrington Lodge is now celebrating over a decade of raising horses on the Darling Downs, the ideal environment for bringing up young performance horses.

Peta has worked with horses all her life –  riding ponies as a young girl, turning out show horses to Grand National level, achieving Sports Star awards, and a previous State Championship Dressage Winner; now with the very handy assistance of John, the future direction is firmly set towards breeding outstanding performance horses.

The broodmare band at Carrington Lodge started with hand picked Thoroughbred mares, noted for refinement yet still retaining athleticism and exacting conformation.

This still remains a feature of Carrington Lodge; however, the head broodmares are now boasting bloodlines such as Highhaven Park Welt’s Emperor (Weltmeyer/Salute), Highhaven Park Excalibur (Valuta/Salute) and Furst Grandios (Furst Heinrich/Argentinus).

This season at Carrington Lodge is an exciting progression for the stud with the first crop of foals from the stallion, Carrington Lodge Furstenwelt (Furst Grandios/HHP Welt’s Emperor) due to hit the ground in October.

CL Furstenwelt-01
CL Furstenwelt-01 Carrington Lodge Furstenwelt

This exciting young stallion has been previously featured on the ACE website http://acegroupinc.com.au/brisbane-royal-show-2013/ after consecutive victories at the Queensland Royal Show and being awarded Supreme Exhibit.

This ACE PREMIUM stallion’s full performance history and information can be found at http://carringtonlodge.com.au/cl-furstenwelt/

Furstenwelt is offered at public stud for the first time this season and is proving to be a popular choice; only limited places are offered for new outside mares.

The sensational young stallion, Royal Classic, has been chosen as the horse to progress the breeding of Carrington Lodge this season and there are high hopes for successful pregnancies with the HHP Welt’s Emperor broodmares.

Youngstock at Carrington Lodge, are potentially the most successfully placed horses at Queensland Royal and Agricultural shows over the past 5 years, with multiple Supremes and Champions being awarded to horses from yearlings to mature horses.

Carrington Lodge Welt's Sateen
Carrington Lodge Welt's Sateen Carrington Lodge Welt’s Sateen

An absolute highlight is being twice awarded Champion Stallion at Toowoomba and Brisbane Royal over consecutive years, and taking out the Best 2-year-old exhibit multiple times.

Performance horses bred by Carrington Lodge continue to impress their owners all across the country. Carrington Lodge horses have had success in Dressage, Showing, Showjumping, Eventing; but most notably have exceptional temperaments for all grades of riders, and have the athletic ability to suit those with the highest ambitions.

Peta and John have done well to ensure the longevity of the stud, with the next generation of little riders. Jay 7, Jordon 5, and Paige 1 have an almost guaranteed chance of success in the horse industry.

They do their part to make sure all the horses are as quiet as possible, from riding the 17hh warmbloods at horse shows to sharing their love and attention at home ensuring the horses are accepting of all things great and small!

Having a look through the pages of http://www.carringtonlodge.com.au will showcase these horses for their beauty, conformation, movement and their achievements to date.

Picture1 Fox in Sox

GrandView Sport Horses, breeders of performance horses with a focus on unique and distinctive colours, outstanding temperament, quality, conformation, movement, and lineage.

GrandView is a small stud situated on 35 acres located in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia. It is owned and run by Janeth and Peter Flowers who are dedicated to producing well handled young stock, thus providing purchasers the assurance that the horses leave for their new homes with established groundwork, enabling them to mature into well-balanced individuals.

The broodmare herd consists of top performance dressage and jumping bloodlines. Mares are carefully matched with suitable stallions to be able to offer a selection of foals for sale of International calibre.

GrandView Fox in Sox (ACE) is the studs’ black tobiano warmblood stallion offered for public breeding duties this season.

His sire is the black tobiano stallion “SOS” imported from Germany, a son of Semper (Sandro x Samber). – SOS’s dam, Pandorra is a daughter of Prinz Oldenburg who was the most famous son of Picasso and is arguably one of Europe’s finest showjumping sires. Pandorra also carries the strong eventing talents of the legendary Ramiro Z and the remarkable dressage sire Pik Bube I.

Fox in Sox’s dam sire, Carbine (Imported) was the highest scoring colt at the AWHA Licensing ever! He combines the bloodlines of the infamous Calypso II and Wenzel. Carbine has produced some very beautiful dressage and show horses but is also making his mark as the sire of eventers. Carbines progeny have been noted to very bold and fast cross country and catch the eye of the judge in the dressage phase.

Fox in Sox is just starting his ridden career and will pursue a career as an eventer. He demonstrates a calm, sensible and accepting ethic to his work. Fox in Sox’s first foals are eagerly awaited in October 2013.

Grandview Sport Horses are delighted to be in partnership with Solaris Sport Horses Limited (UK) and are the Australian agent for the remarkably beautiful and talented perlino Akhal Teke stallion, Kambarbay and the proven performance KWPN registered, chestnut tobiano Dutch Warmblood stallion, Umenno.

Picture2
Picture2 Kambarbay

Kambarbay possesses all of the desirable characteristics of the modern event horse; athleticism, elasticity, stamina, speed, agility, scope over a fence, excellent movement and a high percentage of blood. In addition, he has a beautiful head, well-defined limbs, a well-proportioned length of body and neck along with the metallic golden sheen to his coat for which the breed is also renown.

The Akhal Teke as a breed are infamous for their great stamina, intelligence, speed, agility and bravery, the characteristics very much sought after for the eventing, endurance and all round sport horse.

Kambarbay, as a Perlino will pass on his dilute colouring 100% of the time. Homozygous agouti and creme he will always produce palomino and buckskin foals from solid mares. He carries both the red and black factor and is homozygous agouti. He cannot produce smokey blacks. Kambarbay has competed with success gaining numerous placings in British Dressage, Show Jumping, and Eventing. His progeny has inherited his athleticism, elegance, and intelligence many of which are enhanced by their metallic golden coats. Frozen semen is available for purchase in Australia and New Zealand this season.

Umenno, KWPN registered and SSH licensed Umenno is a son of the International show jumping stallion Wellington (KWPN Keur) by the infamous Nimmerdor out of Evelien (KWPN Ster) Samber x Le Faquin xx. Evelien is the full sister to Sambucco B sire of Sinclair B and nine other approved stallions in Germany as well as the Grand Prix show jumping gelding Samba.

Umenno possesses a good trainable temperament, powerful flamboyant movement, a beautifully marked chestnut and white robe, and a pedigree of legendary ancestry with 53% OX/XX blood. Bred with athleticism in mind Umenno is an expressive powerful mover with off the floor paces and has demonstrated good jumping ability in the showjumping arena in the UK, Switzerland and South Africa.

Picture3
Picture3 Umenno

Umenno`s progeny has been successfully shown in hand’ siring a multitude of 1st premium, champion and prize-winning progeny at the BEF Futurity, SSH Gradings and KWPN Keurings. A number of his daughters have been awarded the STER predicate with especially good marks for jumping technique and movement.

His progeny is competing with success in the disciplines of showjumping, eventing, and showing. He is very much rated as a progenitor of his own strengths an opinion shared by National and Overseas Judges. Notably, he is the sire of the 2013 French National Junior Event Champion 2013 “Bequinna” aged seven and her full sister Aquenna who is the reserve for the Scottish Junior Show Jumping Team aged eight. A number of his sons are also proving successful in the show ring qualifying for HOYS and the Royal International Horse Show in ridden hunter and coloured classes.

Very limited number of frozen doses of Umenno are available this breeding season.

GrandView are expecting IFS foals this season to Belissimo M, Sanyo, Mighty Magic and Armitage to name a few!

Colour, performance, and temperament…..a winning combination!
